Population ageing in Europe calls for an overall rise the age of retirement. However, many argue that this should be differentiated to account individuals' career arduousness. This paper explores relevance idea. It combines 7th wave SHARE panel data on health at older and US occupational O*NET data. With these unique it first quantifies impact entire arduous- ness typical retirement age, relative other key determinants (gender, childhood health, parental longevity). then estimates degree differentiation would needed compensate individuals their career-related handicap/advantage get closer real actuarial fairness.
